Innovation in Gender Equity: Supporting Commercialization of innovations

IMED Foundation was approached by Land O’ Lakes to provide Short Term Assistance (SITTA) for the workshop on “Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy and Understanding your Market” for LOL technology innovators referencing activity ‘Enterprise acceleration’. The main focus was to conduct the market study; needs assessment, coaching innovators to develop and pitch business models linking them to rural farmers; and training them on record keeping, marketing and sales and people management skills representatives of 17 awardees in creating entrepreneurship behaviours, preparing a Business plan, how to handle customers and be able to learn more on the challenges of the market and how to adapt into it and be not only part of that market but take advantage of it The assignment proceeds with working closely with the innovators to understand their innovations, creating their business plan, build capacity and courage of each of the innovators to present their business plans to  Financial institutions and funders. The 17 innovators and type of their innovations in bracket are:-

ARECO (integrated fish farming); EFP (mushroom processing); TUMAINI (Sunflower thresher); CLAPHIJO (solar drier); JACOLI (Amaranths and allied products); SNP (Palm oil extractor and allied products); DORGO (Post-harvest Crop Multiprocessor); JIKO BORA (Grain metal warehouse); SST (Bird and Animal Chaser); JUHUDI (Biomass Briquettes); SIGA (Coal Briquettes); MKOMBOZI (Groundnut Sheller); UTEITI (Fruit pulping device); KILO (Underground chicken brooder); SIWATO (Fruits and vegetables indirect solar drier and its allied products); SAFI (Rice winnower); MWAMKO (Weeder);
